Candlelight Bedtime Stories

Written for children, but enjoyed equally by adults, these captivating stories are conservative, with Bible-based values written in two volumes. With settings in the homes and schools of Old Order Mennonites or Amish, the characters learn simple lessons about the Christian life, faith, interpersonal relationships, and the development of Godly character qualities. Read-alone for ages 8-11, but young and old will enjoy these skilfully told stories that will challenge and encourage each one.

From the Publisher:

"And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou riseth up." Deuteronomy 6:7

Many years have passed since Moses penned the above lines, but the need has not decreased for parents to teach God's laws and Christian values to their children. We hope that Candlelight Bedtime Stories will help parents with that teaching.

These 180 short, devotional stories are the first of two volumes. The stories are directed towards children of ages six to fourteen. Many 10 to 14 year-olds will enjoy reading the stories themselves, but many parents have found that smaller children will often crowd around (or onto the lap) as a story is read to them. The pictures that accompany each story will help to capture the interest of younger ones. The questions that follow the stories are intended to serve as a springboard for discussion. Children will always enjoy a discussion - especially when it's bedtime!

Both children and adults need to fill their minds with good thoughts before going to bed. To this end, we think Candlelight Bedtime Stories will help fill a need. However, we trust parents will use these stories as a supplement to, not a substitute for, Bible stories.
